Passionpie Flowers

Hello all!

Apologies that I have been absent from blog land for a couple of weeks - life kinda caught up with me and I've had no time to post here... Hopefully I'll be able to be a little more active now.

I made this card for the inspiration challenge over at SCS as well as Stacey's Curtain Call colour challenge and our SU team's fortnightly challenge. The main image was created by stamping the flowers from Happy Moments (a Sale-a-Bration set you can get for FREE!) three times so they overlapped. I then stamped them again separately on a piece of whisper white card then coloured, glittered and cut out. I glued the cut-out flowers over the top of the original bouquet to hide where they overlapped (this is my way of getting around masking, which I can never be bothered to do!!). The DSP is from the Kaleidascope collection and I used two types of white ribbon: satin for the bow and taffeta to wrap around the DSP panel.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: Stazon black
Paper: Kaleidascope DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Pink Passion, Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories: White satin ribbon, white taffeta ribbon, piercing tool, basic black marker, blender pen, SU markers, scallop edge punch

Simple Brocade Bird

Hello!
It's snow day #2 today, and while it is nice to be at home, I am getting a bit worried that my latest UPS delivery of Stampin Up goodies (including two new Sale-a-Bration sets!) may not get here before Saturday when I have my Sale-a-Bration class - eek! It was supposed to be delivered yesterday but the tracking update changed to 'exceptional circumstances' due to 'adverse weather' - which is code for 'we can't drive in snow!!'. I wen't back on the website this morning and saw that they had left the depot... only to turn back not long afterwards and updated the status again to 'exceptional circs...' Grrr! I do understand really, I'm not moaning at them, but I just want my new goodies...!
Anyway, enough rambling about weather... This card was made for Sunday's Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS. The card I cased used this cool technique of dragging inkpads along a white piece of card to create a background (start with the coloured ink first, then do the same with Whisper White inkpad, then go back to the colour) - I had a go and really liked the result! It's so quick and easy to do (although the white ink does take a while to dry!). I cut my background into three and stamped on two of them with stamps from A Touch of Nature with coordinating ink (Brocade Blue).
The main panel was stamped with Brocade Blue both for the image and sentiment and I added Brocade Blue ribbon to finish off. I wanted to keep this simple to show what you can do just using one colour, no colouring, punches, brads... etc! I did HAVE to add ribbon though... anyone who knows me knows that's kinda imperative in my card making lol!
Here's the recipe:
Stamps: A Touch of Nature, Trendy Trees
Ink: Brocade Blue, Whisper White
Paper: Brocade Blue, Whisper White
Accessories: Brocade Blue 5/8" grosgrain ribbon

Certainly Friends...

Hello!
It's very cold and snowy here in Bristol today and my school has closed so I get a day at home... yay!! (I'll try to contain my excitement... lol!)
I made this card last night for the colour challenge on SCS: Certainly Celery, Taken with Teal and Handsome Hunter (with an extra option of adding something pink!). Well I had only a teeny scrap of Handsome Hunter cardstock as I used all mine last Christmas and haven't gotten around to ordering more (must remedy that soon!). I did however have a Handsome Hunter ink cartridge for my Jumbo Wheel, so I used that together with So Swirly to create a background on Certainly Celery cardstock. I rounded the corners with my corner rounder punch and layered onto Taken with Teal card. The image is from Love You Much and I stamped it with Handsome Hunter and Pretty in Pink markers on Whisper White. I stamped the birds again and coloured with an aquapainter and Taken with Teal ink. I then cut them out (minus legs!) and popped over the top of the whole image with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped with Taken with Teal. The top piece was punched with the scallop edge punch and I tied some Certainly Celery ribbon around in a bow then added a Pretty in Pink button with some Linen thread. I added some 1/4" punched circles (out of my tiny piece of Handsome Hunter) to the scallops for an interesting effect.
Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Love You Much, So Swirly wheel
Ink: Handsome Hunter, Taken with Teal
Card: Handsome Hunter, Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Accessories: Pretty in Pink button, linen thread, Certainly Celery 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, corner rounder punch, scallop edge punch, 1/4" circle punch, aquapainter, SU markers

Pocket Silhouettes...

Hello and happy 2010 to you!

I made this card for this week's sketch challenge on SCS. I used my new Pocket Silhouettes stamp set (not new to the SU catty, just new to me!) to create the main panel, stamping the different silhouettes in Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Taken with Teal and Old Olive. The dragonfly is from Nature's Nest (which my friend Katie let me play with...!). I stamped it with Versamark on Whisper White and then applied Heat and Stick powder. I heated this with a heat gun which turns the powder sticky. I then dipped the image in turqouise glitter (from the Fine Cosmos glitter set) and heated again to set. Result: very sparkly dragonfly!! The papers are from the Perfect Plum designer series papers (thanks to Katie who gave these to me for Christmas!). The bottom strip of the main panel was stamped with the spiral edge punch (another Christmas pressie from Katie..!). Both the image panel and the DSP were sponged with Perfect Plum ink.

Here's the recipe:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Nature's Nest, One of a Kind
Ink: Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Taken with Teal, Versamark
Paper: Perfect Plum DSP, Spiced Cider DSP, Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Perfect Plum
Accessories: Heat & Stick powder, cosmos glitter, oval punches, silver brads, spiral punch, white 1/42 grograin ribbon

Thanks for stopping by! I'm hoping to show a great Sale-a-Bration project in the next few days so stay tuned...
