Mini goodness...

Hiya!

I got the chance to play along in the colour challenge on SCS today - yay! The colours were so Saffron, Taken with Teal and Basic Grey. Here's what I came up with:

It was a great opportunity to use some new goodies coming out in the Mini catty on April 1st. I used a FAB new paper stack (yes... I said STACK!) and my fave new stamp set - Vintage Vogue. The ribbon is some old SU stuff I had from the ribbon promotion held last year (let's just say that I stocked up... being the ribbon addict that I am!!)
Am hoping I'll get the chance to play (and hopefully post!) a lot more over the next few weeks as I will be on Easter hols - can't tell you how much I'm needing those holidays right now!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Curtain Call Friend...

Hiya everyone!

It's time for a Curtain Call colour challenge again - this week's colours are lovely and muted - they really lend themselves to vintage cards I think!

The first thing I thought of when I saw the colour combo was a little white picket fence with pink flowers. I'd seen a fence made out of the little tag punch coming in the UK mini catty (out April 1st!) so I tried to create the same idea:

I had to whip this one up very quickly as it's been a hectic week and hectic Saturday with a class, birthday pressie to make for a friend and dinner with some other friends! Added to that is the fact that the clocks go forward tonight, which means I lose and hour's sleep and I need to be up EARLY tomorrow for music team at church! So I rushed through this one in around 1/2 an hour - very unusual to me and I can see stuff I want to tinker with but alas no time!
Make sure you check out what the other Curtain Call girls have come up with:

Screwed Up...

Hiya!

Just a quick post (aiming to get more in mid-week!!) to show you a card I made for the Inspiration Challenge over at SCS last Saturday, and also for our SU team challenge - an Easter card or gift using flowers.

I've been seeing these scrunched flowers all over the 'net lately and have yet to try them myself. When I went to a SU demo's training on Sat in Reading I saw some drop-dead gorgeous examples of these where they had been painted with crystal effects and glitter after being scrunched so I had to case that idea immediately!

The colours I used for the flowers were Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom and Pretty in Pink. The leaves are Mellow Moss and Always Artichoke (from A Rose is a Rose stamp set). The ruffled border is some Bride DSP that I punched with the eyelet border punch then screwed up and applied wit Sticky Strip.

Thanks for stoppin by today!

Curtain Call Chick Cards...

Hiya!

It's Curtain Call time again! This week's colours were so bright and funky they just screamed girly cards to me.

The colours really lent themselved to cupcakes in my mind so that's where I went with this card. The cupcakes were watercoloured with markers and an aquabrush on watercolour paper. That ribbon (soooo gorgeous!) is a sneaky peek of something coming in the new UK mini catalogue launching in April!

Well I couldn't stop at one card this week and the girly theme called for a handbag! This one was made using the Circle Circus stamp set, together with the oval punches and eyelet border punch. Not an original idea though (not many of my cards are!!) - I saw it on SCS somewhere I think...

The Pink Passion piece on this card was stamped with a lovely damask stamp coming in one of the stamp sets in the mini... Can you tell I'm having fun playing with my new toys??!
Here's what the rest of the Curtain Call Crew have cooked up for you this week:
and of course the lovely Stacey Schafer
I must apologise for not posting during this last week - life as been particularly hectic! I have photographed a whole bunch of cards from recent classes I've held that I hope to post over the next few weeks if I can find a few minutes with my computer!
Thanks for stopping by!

Curtain Call Simply Shabby...

Hello all!

It's Curtain Call Color Challenge time again! This week's colours are lovely and soft:

I combined this week's colours with the Viva la Verve challenge over at SCS. This sketch was from week 1's challenge and I chose the Shabby Chic country kitchen as my inspiration. Here's what I came up with:

I used SU's Simply Said stamp set together with the new large heart punch available only in March from Stampin Up. If you purchase it with the Simply Said stamp set you get a discount - bonus! I stamped the words and flowers with Always Artichoke then coloured the flowers in with Certainly Celery and Barely Banana markers. I added some glitter to the banana flowers. The image was then punched out with the heart punch. The scallop border was created using the scallop border punch around two different-sized squares of cardstock - the white one slightly larger than the banana one. I trimmed off the border of the banana one so I was just left with a scalloped square.
The background paper is from Bella Bleu - I don't know whether it's officially Barely Banana but it looks very similar to the cardstock! The two smaller squares are Barely Banana stamped with flowers and embossed with clear EP. Most of the layers were distressed with my distressing tool to imitate the shabby chic look of the kitchen.

New Toys!

I'm sooo excited! My new goodies from the mini catalogue arrived this week and I was finally able to play with them this morning - yay! Here's what I cooked up:

I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch for the layout and I used a new stamp set and new papers... and that's all I'm saying for now! All the details of all the goodies in the mini will be available on April 1st - it's gonna be great!
Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow for another Curtain Call card...

Curtain Call Crew kick-off!

Hello all!

I'm super excited to be showing my first card as a member of Stacey's Curtain Call Crew! Here are the colours:

Here's what I came up with:

I brayered the bottom half of a piece of Bride DSP with Bashful Blue ink for the background (I so looove this technique!). For the main image, I stamped the beautiful flower from Bloomin Beautiful on Confetti White cardstock and coloured with watercolour wonder crayons and an aquapainter. I then cut the image out. The background piece was stamped with the bloom definition in Bashful Blue ink then sponged lightly around the edges and distressed. I added my FAVE thing - ribbon bow with a button!

Here's what the rest of the Crew have cooked up for you:

And of course our fabulous coordinator Stacey Schafer!

Thanks for stopping by - hope you can join in the colour challenge this week!

Triple Challenge

Hello all!

I wanted to make a card for this week's Curtain Call colour challenge:

This is what I came up with (I had to substitute Elegant Eggplant for Rich Razzleberry, and Pretty in Pink for Pink Pirouette as I don't have the in-colours):

I also combined this with two other challenges - the technique challenge at SCS yesterday (to make 'faux nesties') and the Clean and Simple challenge (to make a square card). In order for the card to be CAS I limited the layers and embellishments (VERY hard for me I must say!). For the technique challenge I used a 1/2" circle punch to punch the edges of the vanilla piece so it looks like an inverted scallop.
I made the flower my stamping the motif from One of a Kind on Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink then cutting out the layers and building up. I stamped some swirls from Season of Joy using Pretty in Pink around the flower. I finished things off with some pearls from the Pretties Kit.
